Welcome to the City of Santa Clara. We are proud of our strong Hispanic and German
heritage and look forward to the future as our diverse community grows.
We think that Santa Clara is “The Best Little City in the Country”.
Santa Clara is a sparsely populated community that allows for country living without large city controls or costs.
We are centrally located between Seguin, New Braunfels, and San Antonio. Feel free to contact us with any questions.

We have reached out to TXDOT about the problems at Hwy 78 at Santa Clara and Country Lane and they want to hear from you.
If anyone wants to voice their concerns/opinions about TXDOT intersections at Hwy 78 and FM 1044.
Please email or call our TXDOT Area Engineer
They have initiated a signal warrant analysis at both intersections and have requested a speed study.

The city of Santa Clara was incorporated in May 1999. The citizens of the new City were looking to manage the fast growth that was coming to the area. We also had the advantage of a power plant beginning construction in the City in January 1999. GPP (Guadalupe Power Partners) has been an excellent corporate part of our City.
The first City Council and Mayor were elected in August 1999. We immediately began the work of the Citizens by passing a Subdivision Ordinance. Among other items in the ordinance, was a minimum lot size of 5 acres. The continuing pressures on our water system and growth problems in the School District were the primary reasons for this size of the lot.
In January 2000, we passed our Sales Tax ordinance. This 1% tax has been very helpful in financing the projects needed in the City. Our new City Hall will be finished in August. This will give the Council and our citizens a much-needed meeting place. We are very grateful to Goerkes Country Tavern for being our temporary City Hall during our first two years.
Beginning August 27, 2001, the Council meets on the 4th Monday of each month and the Planning Commission meets on the 2nd Monday of each month. The city hall office is open from 09:00 am to 2:00 PM, Monday – Thursday.
