Summary of Duties performed by role:

Mayor:

Handle calls about city business
Be familiar with State and Federal regulations and agreements with other cities, county, and agencies
Run city council meetings
Non-voting member of Planning and Zoning.  Vote if tie vote
Develop ordinances, resolutions, policies and procedures
Primary contact for City Attorney and Engineer
Manage city administrative and road personnel
Attend meetings with cities, counties, state, developers, and businesses on behalf of the city
Act as financial manager including configurations of QuickBooks, second signature on checks
Develop budgets
Purchasing agent: approve unexpected purchases
Review bank statements and entries in QuickBooks
City’s POC for contracts and other agencies
Complete state and federal paperwork
Recruit businesses for possible interest in locating in the city

Other duties as assigned:

Be part of road crew for projects – handle issues and work where possible
Web site administrator
IT Hardware/Software support
Security camera administrator and primary contact for alarms
Equipment Maintenance
Building Maintenance

City Council:

Be familiar with city ordinances, resolutions, policies and procedures
Review/approve:

  • proposed ordinances
  • subdivision plans
  • budgets and budget adjustments
  • significant financial expenditures
  • financial debt agreements
  • master plans
  • non-law enforcement contracts

Propose new or changes to ordinances, resolutions, policies and procedures
Vote on appointments
Recruit businesses for possible interest in locating in the city
Encourage and incentivize citizenship within the city
Represent the city to other cities, counties, state, and businesses
